CABUTE Postdoctoral Scholarships for 2024-2026听(Extended deadline)

CABUTE is pleased to announce the availability of 3 Postdoctoral Scholarships, effective from June 2025. These scholarships will be allocated as follows: Two (2) for Makerere University, and one (1) for Kyambogo University.听

Eligibility Criteria:听

To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:听

  • Hold a faculty position at one of the Ugandan CABUTE institutions.
  • Possess a doctoral degree in English, General Education, Mathematics, or Music.
  • Not have attained the rank of Associate Professor.听

Focus Area:听

CABUTE is committed to enhancing teacher education in Uganda through capacity-building initiatives. Therefore, proposed Postdoctoral projects must be directly relevant to teacher education and/or school-related research.听

Scholarship Structure:听

The scholarship will be disbursed in three installments:听

  1. Start-up Package: Provided to initiate the research work.
  2. Result-Based Award: Granted upon publication of the first peer-reviewed research article.
  3. Final Award: Issued after the publication of the second peer-reviewed research article.听听

Each installment is valued at NOK 51,000 (appr. UGX 18 mill per August 2024).听

Co-authorship and Allocation Process:听

In addition to assessing the applicant鈥檚 qualifications and previous achievements and the application's academic quality and relevance, emphasis will be placed on co-authorship opportunities with academic colleagues at CABUTE partner institutions in Norway. Final allocation decisions will be made by the CABUTE steering committee.听

CABUTE is committed to enhancing teacher education in Uganda by promoting capacity building. To support this goal, we have awarded scholarships to 16 teacher educators pursuing master鈥檚 degrees and 4 educators working towards PhDs, ensuring they acquire the essential qualifications needed for their roles.

Additionally, our PostDoc scholarships focus on advancing the expertise of educators who have already earned their PhDs.

Collectively, these initiatives make a significant contribution to educational research in Uganda, particularly in areas crucial to the development of teacher education.

CABUTE is funded by under their NORHED II-programme.
