What is job shadowing or placement?
It means that an employee works at another unit within the organisation for a set period, as a professional development initiative. The duration can range from three months to one year, either full-time or as a percentage of the employee鈥檚 position.
Participation is voluntary and must be agreed upon by both the employee and their line manager. Either party may initiate the process, and both share responsibility for identifying a suitable host unit. Line management and HR responsibilities remain unchanged unless otherwise agreed. It is recommended that the possibility of job shadowing is discussed during the annual performance review and included in the employee鈥檚 professional development plan.
