Competence promotion at UiB

Information and guidance for promotion to Professor, Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer (førstelektor) and Teaching Professor (docent). For faculty-specific guidelines, please refer to the information provided by your faculty.

Eligibility Criteria Ìý

  • You must hold at least a 50% position at the University of Bergen to be eligible to apply for promotion based on qualifications. The position must be either permanent or a fixed-term appointment.

  • Promotion is personal and may only be sought within the academic field in which you are employed.

  • A minimum of two years must have passed since your last application.

  • The application process begins by contacting the HR department at your faculty.

  • If your application is successful, your salary and position code will be adjusted accordingly. Please note that a promotion does not entail any changes to your current duties.
