The Science and Technology Library offers many printed and electronic books, journals, encyclopedias, and databases in the fields of physics and technology. You will find all types of documents by searching in the blue box above.

Books in the library are sorted by the Dewey Decimal Classification. Books in physics have numbers that start with 51x and in technology numbers that start with 62x.听

E-books are becoming increasingly common, a number of the University Library's books are only available digitally. Read more on how to get access.
Scientific publications
Scientific papers appear alongside books, reports, etc. also in Oria. The subject-specific reference databases listed below offer advanced search functionality lacking from Oria and Google Scholar.

Other relevant resources for the reading and writing process
EndNote is a tool for managing references and is available for all students and employees at UiB.听 The Science Library offers regularly courses on EndNote.
Zotero is a free reference management tool. It is in particular a nice tool for undergraduates and for everyone who is looking for a tool for Unix. It does also allow easy use with BibTeX/LaTeX.
LaTeX听Currently the Science Library does not offer a course in LaTeX.听 You can find a lot of information in free online tutorials (e.g. ) or contact the staff at the science library for specific questions.
(Search and Write) is a site for all students who would like to learn more about information gathering and academic writing, independent of institution and subject area.
is a resource for PhD students who are beginning their research career, and who would like to learn more about information- and literature for research purposes, and how to publish research.
Shut up and write听is a weekly writers workshop for PhD students who struggle to find the time to write. No registration is needed, just bring your laptop, and coffee cup!

The digital library
General information about the Science Library
Group rooms and reading areas
The library has individual study spaces and spaces for group work. Group rooms, pods, and reading seats in "zone 3" . The rest, both individual places, group tables, and armchairs,听 do not require booking.
These restrictions apply when booking:

Syllabus
We have curriculum literature in the library, either printed or digital. We have a syllabus collection for use in the library only (in the Pensum-section, but also loan copies for most titles.
NLB (The Norwegian Library of Talking Books and Braille) produces and lends out talking books, e-books and books in braille.听 Our service also includes course literature for students at universities, university colleges and tertiary vocational colleges. Read more听.
