Litterature search
Search engines / databases for non-fiction:
- Oria is the University Library's search engine, and gives you both printed and electronic documents in the same hit list. Guidance on how to apply in oria can be found here
- Proquest. Here you can do a subject search for articles, and you will also find e-books, newspaper articles and international doctoral theses.
- Web of Science. One of the world's largest interdisciplinary index databases, registering articles from more than 21,000 peer-reviewed journals
- Google Scholar. Probably the largest collection of academic nonfiction. Advantages: Practical in the initial search phase, easy to do quick searches and to find a specific article. Good coverage in Norwegian publications. Disadvantages: Unsuitable for systematic searching, and the list of results often unclear. Risk of getting results from non-serious journals, so be critical! It is recommended to use index base as your primary search tool, and Google scholar as a supplement if necessary
- Jstor. Especially good for finding older or classic articles
