On Thursday, September 9, 2019,聽the National Science Week (Forskningsdagene) hosted a debate at the public library on what we talk about when we talk about the weather in Bergen. The debate was entitled聽"Apocalypse soon - or do the worries rain away?" ("Apokalypse snart - eller regner bekymringene vekk?").
It was an interesting discussion with scientists from different disciplines,聽Kjersti Fl酶ttum (LINGCLIM and HUMKLIM),聽Erik Kolstad (NORCE), and Kyrre Kverndokk (HUMKLIM), as well as聽the Director of water and sewerage Magnar Sekse (Bergen municipality).
In conversation with聽Anne Jortveit (Norwegian Climate Foundation), they聽discussed questions such as: What will the weather in Bergen be like in the years to come?聽How have聽the seasons changed over time? What will the weather be like in the future and what measures will the municipality have to take to fight climate change? How are weather and extreme weather used in the climate debate? Does it matter how we talk about the future?
Thank you to Marit Ruge Bj忙rke (HUMKLIM) for organising聽the event.
