
We apply and develop analytical and synthetic methods in organic chemistry to address research questions within bioresource development and pharmaceutical chemistry
Our research addresses challenges related to health through early-stage drug discovery and to the sustainable and novel use of bioresources, by developing and applying analytical and synthetic methods in organic chemistry. We are interested in bioprospecting based on both marine- and terrestrial sources, and the advancement of chemical technology. We work on (i) isolation, structure elucidation and synthesis of new natural products, (ii) investigation of structure-activity relationships, (iii) optimization of separation technologies and up-scaling processes, (iv) optimization of hit compounds in drug discovery efforts, and (v) developing new drug formulations. The molecules of interest are spanning from polymers in drug formulations to proteins, peptides, lipids, and complex multifunctional natural products and related compounds of synthetic and natural origin.
