Ingrid Margrethe Halvorsen Barlund is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law. Her main research interests lie in EU and EEA competition law and internal market law. She is currently involved in a research project on Nordic cartel policy, as well as in separate projects examining Norway’s approach to implementing EEA-relevant EU acts and developing a doctrine of precedent in Norwegian law in relation to case law from the EFTA Court.
She defended her doctoral thesis on cartel enforcement in 2019. Following this, she co-coordinated a research project on Norway’s integration into the EU financial supervisory system while working as a postdoctoral research fellow. She was appointed Associate Professor in 2022 and is part of the management team at the Bergen Centre for Competition Law and Economics (BECCLE). She also serves on the leadership team of the Centre on the Europeanization of Norwegian Law (CENTENOL), where she leads the work package on the Europeanization of Norwegian law.
Barlund has played an active role in the leadership of the Bergen Research Group in European Law (BERG) for several years. She has served on a government-appointed expert group tasked with revising the Norwegian Financial Supervision Act and is currently a member of the expert group revising the Norwegian Competition Act.
