During my three years at UiB as a PhD candidate and a representative for group B at the departmental level, I have gained valuable insight into how the university operates and the opportunities it provides for academic success. However, I have also witnessed first-hand that not all temporary employees have equal opportunities to thrive.

International employees, in particular, face significant challenges鈥攔anging from navigating an unfamiliar academic system to integrating socially and professionally. The recent requirement for Norwegian language courses adds to an already demanding workload, making it even more difficult to focus on research and career development.

If elected to the university board, I will work to bridge these gaps and ensure that PhD candidates, postdocs, research assistants, and all temporary staff鈥攂oth international and national鈥攔eceive the support they need to excel. This includes advocating for improved onboarding processes, clearer communication about available university resources and opportunities, and a more inclusive academic and social environment.

A stronger, more diverse academic community benefits us all. Through increased cooperation, we can make UiB a place where every researcher, regardless of background, has the tools and opportunities to succeed.
