In 2015 CISMAC scientists聽focused on finalising formative research, protocols and instruments, and on聽obtaining ethical approvals. We have developed strategic directions to guide CISMAC鈥檚聽prioritizations and further development, and the volume of聽聽increased considerably in 2015. Among other papers, CISMAC scientists聽co-authored three important review articles about breastfeeding that appeared in Acta Paediatrica and the聽聽(the latter was published in January 2016).

One of our studies obtained substantial additional funding from the GLOBVAC-program. In addition,聽we expanded our study portfolio with two studies based at the Norwegian Institute for Public Health.

The聽first study, 鈥淚nteractive checklists within an electronic health registry in Palestine鈥, will evaluate structured聽checklists as part of new electronic health registries in antenatal care. It receives the bulk of its funding from聽the European Research Council (ERC) and the Research Council of Norway鈥檚 GLOBVAC program.

The聽second study, the GLOBVAC-funded 鈥淪trengthening the extension of reproductive, maternal, neonatal聽and child health services in Bangladesh with an electronic health registry鈥, will assess the benefits of an聽electronic tool-kit for improving collection and use of health information to benefit women鈥檚 and children鈥檚聽health.聽

In addition we have interviewed聽Victoria Nankabirwa, who is the principal investigator of the study in Uganda that will聽estimate the effect of delaying BCG vaccination of HIV-exposed babies until 14 weeks of age. This study will enroll almost 2,200 HIV-exposed babies.聽

We also present a few of the newcomers to CISMAC, and much more.聽
