This course gives a comprehensive introduction to implementation science in global health. The course takes a holistic approach to implementation science with a particular focus on global health challenges in low- and middle-income countries.
With the pandemic hitting the world in March 2020, we have put a rather different and challenging year behind us, but with our dedicated staff working relentlessly, CISMAC’s activities have powered through.
A team of researchers from CISMAC (see side bar) have been involved in a nested, case-control study. The study is a good example of researcher curiosity in action.
The Centre for Health Research and Development at the Society for Applied ´óÏó´«Ã½ in New Delhi undertook a large randomized controlled trial in India together with CISMAC researchers and the Haryana government to estimate the effect of the Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illnesses strategy (IMNCI).
In Zambia, COVID-19 testing capability was established in February 2020 with US and Japanese assistance. The first two cases of COVID-19 were reported on 18 March 2020.
In India, the first COVID-19 case was reported on January 30, 2020. As of June 21, 2020, ~425 000 COVID-19 cases had been reported with 13 700 deaths across the country.
CISMAC has prepared its Annual Report for 2019. Highlighting the year’s activity at the Centre for Research Excellence, the report also begins to consider future directions for the Centre, after the end of the 10-year funding period.
Overnight March 12-13, UiB became a digital university. This meant everything, even the pinnacle of university study – PhD Defences – went online. The transformation is working - thanks to the concerted efforts of many.
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Dr Maharaj K. Bhan, member of CISMAC Executive Committee and a close friend. Dr Bhan died in Delhi on 26 January. He was 72 years old and leaves behind his wife, two children and a large group of researchers and health professionals whom he mentored during his generous life.
