In collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences offers a series of workshops and a reading day in Spring 2025 to assist researchers planning to apply for NFR research project funding.
This program is designed to support researchers at all career stages, providing guidance from the initial idea development to the finalization of a competitive application.

RCN Reading Day
In cooperation with the Faculty of Humanities, the Faculty of Social Sciences organises an application Reading Day for researchers who consider applying for support from the Research Council of Norway (RCN). The Reading Day is open for researchers at all career stages.
During the Reading DayÌý you will get a chance to read successfull UiB applications previously funded by the RCN in different categories (researcher project for experienced researchers, researcher project for early career researchers, researcher project with international mobility) in order to see how a succesfull project can be structured. The applications will only be available as paper copies during the Reading Day, and cannot be taken out of the room or copied.ÌýÌý
You will be able to come and leave any time in-between 9 and 15.30 o'clock on the Reading Day and stay as long as you wish.

One-Page Proposal Workshop
The workshop focuses on developing a ‘one-page proposal’ and is aimed at researchers in the early application phase who need help developing their research ideas into strong applications.

Impact & Implementation Workshop- CANCELLED
This workshop will focus on both ‘impacts and effects (impact)’ and ‘implementation’. For the impact section, we will explore how to understand the concept of ‘impact’, why it is important to succeed with it, and how to write a strong impact chapter in your application.
Additionally, the ‘implementation’ section will guide you through how to structure and write the implementation part of your research project, ensuring that your methodology, timeline, and work packages are clearly aligned.
You can choose to register for only the impact session, only the implementation session, or participate in both.

RCN FRIPRO Proposal Workshop
The final workshop before the application submission!
This workshop is aimed at researchers who have a draft of an almost fully developped application.ÌýThe workshop consists of group work, Ìýwhere participants provide feedback on each other’s application drafts. Everyone will receive an application to read in advance.Ìý

- Date: MayÌý21, 2025
- Time:Ìý09:00–12:00
- Place: SV-building, Lauritz Meltzer's house, Fosswinckels street 6, 5007 Bergen (meeting room 904, 9. floor)
Participation Requirement:ÌýSubmit your application draft by May 12th to .ÌýSubmission of the draft within the deadline is considered as a registration for the workshop.ÌýAfter the submission, the applications will be distributed among the participants. Each participant will have primary responsibility for one application but is encouraged to read several. The workshop will function as a mock panel, where everyone gives a brief introductory presentation about their project in the group.Ìý
