SIAM GS/Prize Spotlight with Wietse Boon

Wietse Boon has been awarded the prize for his novel and significant contributions to the challenging problem of mathematical and computational modeling of mixed-dimension systems, such as fractured porous media.
The (SIAG/GS) awards this prize every two years to one individual in their early career in the field of geosciences for distinguished contributions to the field in the three calendar years prior to the award year.
Wietse Boon has been a doctoral student in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Bergen, where he defended his thesis on "Conforming discretizations of mixed-dimensional partial differential equations" in 2018.
