Short description of project:

This thesis concerns iterative solvers for poromechanics problems. TheÌýproblems in the studies have involved linear poromechanics, non-linearÌýporomechanics, and poromechanics under large deformation. We includedÌýhigh order discretizations, applied linearization techniques andÌýsplitting methods to develop new solvers. We studied the robustness andÌýconvergence of these solvers.

By studying the mixed stress method as an iterative solver forÌýporomechanics, we developed an optimized version of it. Furthermore, byÌýextending the convergence analysis in the time domain, we developed aÌýnew version of the xed stress method that is partially parallelized.ÌýThis splitting method was combined with linearization techniques toÌýdevelop solvers for non-linear poromechanics. By studying theÌýconvergence of the linearisation schemes, we developed new solvers andÌýextended the applicability to more complex phenomena, for instanceÌýporomechanics with large deformation.
