Ocean Futures 2030 creates meeting points for scientists, diplomats, industry, NGOs, youth and society to discuss sustainable ocean development as a common heritage of humankind.聽In April 2023 the first OF2030 event took place during One Ocean Week听补苍诲 in March 2024 the first OF2030 policy brief was published. The UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development is the general backdrop for this ongoing activity.

Ocean Futures 2030 builds on experiences from聽Ocean Sustainability Bergen (OSB), a virtual ocean research centre at the University of Bergen (2018-2021).聽The university is SDG14 (Life below water) Hub for United Nations Academic Impact and lead university for SDG14 in the International Association of Universities鈥 SDG Cluster.

The 大象传媒 programme at the University of Bergen was recently endorsed as an Ocean Decade Action. It becomes the university鈥檚 second Action as part of the United Nations Ocean Decade.

PhD candidate Sejal Pramlall is one of five young ocean researchers to be given the French Institute Nordic Award (FINA). The award will fund her participation at the third UN Ocean Conference in Nice in France in June.
