The Michael Sars Centre听is an international community of听scientists using advanced technologies to study the unique molecular and cellular听biology of marine organisms.听We aim to establish, strengthen, and leverage听local, national, and international networks through specific activities, including听collaborative research, joint training, and scientific exchange.听

As a UNESCO World Heritage City and a European City of听Culture nestled between fjords and mountains, Bergen has听the ideal combination of nature, culture and exciting urban听life year around. The city is an international centre for听aquaculture, shipping, the offshore petroleum industry and听subsea technology, and a vibrant hub for marine research. Bergen is located in a typical West Norwegian听landscape with high mountains, fjords, bays and听thousands of small and large islands and skerries.听The rich diversity of听animals encountered on the Bergen coast听effectively complements the in-house aquaculture听facilities, thus broadening the scope of research听projects that can be implemented at the Centre.
