There are several student organisations affiliated with the Faculty of Law that you can partake in during your exchange period, or while studying for an LLM, in Bergen.

Juridisk Studentutvalg

Juridisk Studentutvalg (JSU) is the Law Student Committee at the Faculty. It is the student political body at the Faculty, appointed in accordance with Norwegian law.

The committee is comprised of 12 members, including one leader, one deputy leader, and 10 ordinary committee members. They are elected by the students at a voluntary assembly at the beginning of each academic year.听

The aim of JSU is to promote the students' views on all matters related to teaching, studies in general and maintenance at the Faculty. As part of this objective, JSU works closely with the Faculty Board and the Student Parliament at the University of Bergen.听

The Law Students Union

Juristforeningen (Law Students Union) is the oldest and biggest student association at the Faculty of Law. The main purpose of the Union is to create and maintain an inclusive and engaging student community through a wide range of activities.听

These are offered across 40 different groups within the Union, centered on various branches of sports, culture and academics. For example, there is a rowing team and a climbing group, a musical and theatrical variety group, and an academic group focusing on the intersection between law and technology. All groups are open to new students each semester, and everyone is welcome to become a member of the Union. Instructions on how to gain membership will be provided upon e-mail to info@juristforeningen.com.听

ELSA

ELSA Bergen is the local branch of the European Law Students' Association, an international student association. It is the world's largest independent association for law students.

ELSA Bergen offers many different activities to any Norwegian, exchange or LLM students wanting to be part of the law students' network in Bergen. It has four groups dedicated to different objectives: Competitions, Seminars & Conferences, Professional Development, and Academic Activities (formerly known as the Human Rights group).

All students at the Faculty are automatically members of ELSA Bergen at large, while you can actively join one of the groups mentioned above. You may then participate in the planning of ELSA's academic events, trips and much more. You will then naturally become part of the social community through ELSA Bergen.听

Mino.jur

Mino.Jur Bergen is a student association seeking to promote cultural awareness and minority knowledge, and create a network between students and future employers. The association aims to harbor academic and social value for students through networking and hosts a variety of such activities throughout the semester. This includes exam-oriented lectures with partners from the labour market, lunches and events focused on currently relevant topics.听

Congregatio Forensis

Congregatio Forensis (CF) is an association that aims to provide the students with practical and academic additions to their studies.听With its 12 subgroups, CF has both social and academic objectives. For example, CF has a shipping group, travel committee and court trials group.听

Furthermore, CF seeks to create a bridge between the students and the workforce, for instance through a mentoring program. It is country-wide, with branches in Oslo and Troms酶 in addition to Bergen.听
