Who can apply

This agreement is only open for students at the Master's Programme in Biomedical Sciences (administered by the Department of Biomedicine).

When can I go

Through this agreement you may go on exchange during the 2nd, 3rd and 4th semester, but you have to be back at UiB in time for your final Master's exam.

What courses can I take

You may take 30 ECTSs of elective courses in the 2nd semester, but these courses must be incorporated into your study plan and chosen in cooperation with your supervisor at the Master's programme. Please contact the Section of Academic Affairs at the Department of Biomedicine for details regarding choosing courses during exchange. You may also do a lab project and get this approved as an elective course.

It is also possible for you to do your Master's thesis (completely or partially) with a research group at the host institution, in which case you also need to have a co-supervisor at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at UiB. Such exchange arrangements must be planned in detail and approved by the Programme Committee in Biomedical Sciences, as well as the research millieus in question at the respective institutions.

Tuition fee

You don't have to pay any particular admission fee or tuition costs; exchange students will only have to pay the regular semester fee to UiB.

About the institution and the city

Karolinska Institutet er eit statleg medisinsk universitet som blei grunnlagt i 1810 p氓 initiativ fr氓 kong Karl XIII, blant anna for 氓 utdanne fleire feltskjerarar til den svenske h忙ren. Universitetet er organisert i 22 relativt sj酶lvstendige institusjonar som samla st氓r for heile 30 prosent av alle medisinske utdanningar og 40 prosent av den medisinske forskinga i Sverige. Mange av desse institusjonane er samlokalisert med helsef酶retak. Den st酶rste campusen ligg n忙r Karolinska universitetssjukhuset i Solna, nord i Stockholm.

Stockholm er Sveriges hovudstad og Nordens mest folkerike by, med i underkant av ein million innbyggarar. Byen er kjend for 氓 vere blant verdas beste studentbyar, med h酶g levestandard og n忙rleik b氓de til storbyliv og vakker natur. Byen har kystlinje mot Austersj酶en, og har 14 酶yar innan bygrensene. Stockholms skjergard er langt st酶rre og rommar meir enn 30聽000 酶yar.

Accommodation

Karolinska Institutet sitt bustadkontor hjelper internasjonale studentar med 氓 finne bustad s氓 langt kapasiteten rekk. Tildeling skjer vanlegvis i forkant av opphaldet. Det er 貌g mogleg 氓 finne bustad p氓 den private marknaden om ein er tidleg ute.
