Occupational health amongst cleaners and office workers in Norway

A questionnaire survey was carried out to study about health and work among cleaners and office workers. Seven cleaning companies and offices participated in the study. One hundred and twenty five cleaners and 130 office workers in total answered the questionnaire.

Main content

In 2013, 125 cleaners and 130 office workers at a large hospital responded to a survey in Bergen. The project showed that the cleaners had more skin and musculoskeletal problems than the office workers. However, the cleaners had fewer problems than those seen in studies from other countries. This suggests that working conditions are better in Norway than in other countries.

The project was conducted by Olivia Lasrado, a master鈥檚 student at the Centre for International Health, University of Bergen, under the supervision of Professor B.E. Moen at the University and Associate Professor Graziella van den Bergh at the University College in Bergen. Lasrado completed her master鈥檚 degree in 2014 and has since published some of the results in a journal article.
