Blanes will give a general presentation of the project "Gender and Pentecostal Christianity: A comparative analysis of Gender in Pentecostal Christianity with focus on Africa and Melanesia", based at the Department of Anthropology of the UiB, and use it as a pretext to discuss the question of comparison in the framework of "global Pentecostalism": what kinds of comparisons are possible on Pentecostal movements across different continents? Blanes argues that this is a methodological and epistemological problem that is typical of the anthropological discipline, and Pentecostalism presents a relevant challenge to pursue the debate.
