  • Center for Digital Narrative CDN (2023-2033)
    • The power center for research on digital culture will work to promote the understanding of how digital narratives shape the understanding of ourselves and the society in which we live.
  • Bergen Centre for Ethics and Priority Setting听BCEPS (2023-2033)
    • BCEPS will become a world-leading research center that will develop new methods and a new ethical framework that help decision-makers to distribute health services in a fairer and more efficient way.听
  • Centre for Early Sapiens Behaviour SAPIENCE (2017-2027)
    • SapienCE aims to increase our understanding of how and when Homo sapiens evolved into who we are today. South Africa is one of the locations for this centre.
  • Center for Intervention Science in Maternal and Child Health CISMAC听(2013-2024)
    • CISMAC aims to improve the health and survival of mothers and children as well as child development through intervention studies among low-income populations in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.

Recently finished CoEs or Centers in their exit phase:

  • 听(2013-2023)
    • BCSS tries to understand the Earth鈥檚 relationship to space. They are looking to answer the听 three questions: When and why are the auroras in the two hemispheres asymmetric? What are the effects of particle precipitation on the atmospheric system? What is the role of energetic particles from thunderstorms on geospace?
    • Center for Cancer Biomarkers CCBIO听(2013-2023)
      • CCBIO identifies new cancer biomarkers and targeted therapy, and has particular focus on mechanisms that show how cancer cells are affected by the microenvironment in the tumors, and what significance this has for cancer proliferation and poor prognosis.

    UiB is also partner in a CoE coordinated by UiO: The Norwegian Centre for research on mental illnesses -, which has the aim to find answers to why some people develop serious mental illness.

    Finished Centers of Excellence coordinated by UiB:

    • Centre听for Geobiology听(2007-2017). The center was succeeded by the K. G. Jebsen Center for Deep Sea Research (2017-2021) and the Center for Deep Sea Research (2021-2026).
    • 听(BCCR,听2003-2012). The center has become one of the most important climate research centers globally.
    • Center for Medieval 大象传媒 (CMS, 2003-2012). Middle age research is still a focus area at UiB. At the Faculty of Humanities, the research was continued in various research groups: the Medieval Research Cluster.
