Fertilizing cancer research collaborations at the 11th CCBIO Annual Symposium 2023 (26.06.2023)
The 11th CCBIO Annual Symposium was this time enlarged with a generous time frame and two overnight stays, May 8-11, 2023. Although there was an option for online attendance, only 14 participants chose to attend online, and the rest of the total of 235 chose to enjoy the company of colleagues and the informal and mutually fertilizing scientific crosstalk in the breaks and the evenings.

UiB researchers received funding of millions for targeted treatment of chronic kidney disease. (24.05.2023)
A new research project at the Department of Clinical Medicine (K1) aims to tailor treatment to children and adolescents living with chronic kidney disease. The Norwegian Research Council has provided NOK 12 million in support for the project.聽

Acute myeloid leukemia is an aggressive blood cancer with poor survival. Younger and otherwise healthy patients undergo severe chemotherapy, often accompanied by stem cell transplant, even though it is difficult to predict who will benefit from the treatment. Potential biomarkers and drugs for common breast cancer (13.12.2022)
Professor Arne 脰stman in CCBIO's International Faculty receives financial support from the Western Norway regional health authorities Helse Vest in their 2023 allocation. His project "Novel biomarkers and combination treatments for ER+ breast cancer" receives NOK 1.500.000 in the first year.

November 26, the regional health authorities Helse Vest announced their funding for 2023, allocating 182 million NOK to 57 new projects, and renewed support to 160 fellows and projects. CCBIO hosted the 6th SCANPATH meeting 鈥� Scandinavian Seminar on Translational Pathology 鈥� on November 14 and 15 at Solstrand Hotel, close to Bergen (Norway). Helse Vest grants for 2023 to all four Neuro-SysMed disease programs (29.11.2022)
The regional health authorities, Helse Vest, just released their latest funding results in which 7 Neuro-SysMed projects will receive funding for a total of ~26 Million NOK. This will secure support for important clinical treatment research focusing on multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson鈥檚 disease (PD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and dementia.

Christiane Helgestad Gjerde, PhD candidate in the Bj酶rge and McCormack groups at CCBIO and the Department of Clinical Science, was awarded with the Kolbj酶rn Brambani Cancer Research Grant 2022 at the Onkologisk Forum meeting November 17.
