About CEDAS, UiB鈥檚 Center for Data Science
UiB鈥檚 Center for Data Science, CEDAS, was established in 2018 to facilitate, unify and coordinate research and education efforts in data science and artificial intelligence across the University of Bergen.

Data science enables the extraction of useful information from large and complex data and has become crucial for many aspects of our society. The University of Bergen has several Departments across its Faculties that conduct research in data science. CEDAS is hosted by UiB鈥檚 Department of Informatics to act as a scientific hub for research and education in data science, based on the Department鈥檚 experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, algorithms, optimization, visual data science and data science in bioinformatics.
UiB鈥檚 Department of Mathematics, the Department of Information and Media Sciences, as well as the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Medicine have strengthened their competence in data science and artificial intelligence over the years. The Center for Data Science, CEDAS, aims to coordinate and substantiate the efforts, and our main ambition is to be a leading research center in data science and related topics, both nationally and internationally.
